Child support grant is an SASSA program for children of age under 18 for low-income households. This grant will not replicate the family’s other source of income, but it will support the family. This grant can be taken by the parents, grandfather or any other family member above the age of 16 who is in charge of the family.

The caretaker or family members of the child, which is anyone mentioned above, can check the status of their SASSA Grant online. The method is given below:

Follow these steps:

• To check SASSA status, visit https://sassacheckstatusonline.co.za/
• Enter the ID Number of the child’s caregiver.
• Provide the cell phone number.
• Click the ‘Submit’ button on the system.
• Our system will forward the process.
• Your Grant will be displayed on the screen.

The monthly payment for the Child Support Grant has been increased from R500 to R750.

These are the following reasons you will not receive a Grant.

• You are being paid to look after the child.
• Not the child caregiver.
• When another person is taking a grant.
• You represent an institution that takes care of the child.

The total payment for the Child Support Grant is now R700; it was R500, and it fluctuates every year. It can be paid to you by two methods, which are cash on the grant date, and a bank deposit. Banks have their own transaction charges, specifically each.

Note: The following transactions are on bank deposits. Also, you have the option to change your payment method at any time. This change will take a minimum of 30 days.

When you fill in your application, it is approved. Then, within 3 months, you will start receiving your SASSA Grant. You must take the grant for consecutive 3 months to ensure it is not terminated.

These are the following reasons why you will not receive the grant:

• The child passes away.
• The child is not available in the country.
• The grant has yet to be taken for the last three consecutive months.
• If you need to provide the correct information.
• The child was admitted to a state institution.

These are the following criteria for the grant eligibility criteria:

• Must be a South African citizen.
• The child should be living in South Africa.
• Must be the person head of the family (Parents, grandparents).
• The child’s age should be at most 18 years.
• The child should not be in any state institution.
• You and your spouse should be available during the test.
• The application can be made for more than six non-biological children.
